A bit of a story with this picture………. we had been at a friends house and heard the steam train running for the Ballarat Heritage weekend, did’nt have the camera handy so never bothered going to see , our friend suggested coming back the next day as the train was running over the two days, we checked the running times and took off down to the pretty spot where the train runs over the top of a small bridge (well its actually a concrete viaduct) (which l have changed to an old bluestone for the purposes of the picture)……my plan was to capture the train running over the viaduct giving me the base for my pic, we set up and waited …..and waited……and waited ,no train , we suspect they had cancelled the lunchtime train but we persisted and stayed on, l was determined l was getting that shot , finally TWO hours later and with a rather big need to visit the loo we heard that lovely whistle coming through the bush ,l stood poised eye to the camera ready to shoot, here it came ……….and then it stopped 10 feet away from the bridge ……Arrrgghhh what was happening .
Well to end my rather long story the train journey ended right there just before it got to the bridge, then the other engine towed it back to Ballarat , my picture was therefore made a little more complicated than l planned as l had to put the train onto the bridge , l am however thankful that we stayed and that we actually got to photograph that steam train !
