hey Marian I have no idea abou t this on eit is one of the very few not from my garden. It flowers all year at the hospital garden and I think it may be an iceberg
Nicely framed. Your focal point is nicely centered but you have a little region a little out of focus.
Two things may improve your shot.
Add a little contrast with a basic S-curve in photoshop. Its amazing how much a little contrast makes an image pop. At the minute it looks a little flat.
A little sharpening – either Smart Sharpening (Remember to use Luminosity Blend mode) or using a High Pass filter (Soft-light Blend mode) would be great for this shot.
Have a go and see what you think.
Overall its a good shot. Remember the tips I give only need be taken into account maybe next time you shoot. Sometimes the fixes I suggest only matter if your a perfectionist like me :D
WOW…what a lovely rose. I too…like you am in love with roses. I have one rose bush. It’s red & I have some pretty shots of the blooms that I will be adding to RB. I want to see more of your photos!!
be my guest…go look. I dont know which takes up more of my time..growing things or photographing them. I am a fifth generation gardener, it is in the blood.
WOW….years ago I took my gardening…as it was…serious..but ending up raising 6 sons…it fell by the wayside. Now that I have time, I find myself living in a community that restricts what and where you can grow gardens. I have my rose bush in a planter & it seems to be doing well..so far. The blooms are so velvety red. I love it! I know i will enjoy all your wonderful photos taken from your garden of love.
Oh,well yes ma’am…I have to find it,but they are really quite Identical in all ways…Like I said…Beautiful shot…Composition is key to this kind of image…Nice job…
well this is the first rose I photographed which wasnt in my garden it was in the local hospital garden. They had a ghastly planting mind you of alternate burgundy and white icebergs, much too formal fo rme.
