OMG Marlene! You already know that I adore your work, but I truly believe that this is the best that I have seen!! I truly could not convince my brain that this was a drawing, but it instead wanted to think PHOTO! Just marvelous Marlene, huh Marvelous Marlene? That’s you. I could go on and on about this. The lines flow so very smoothly into perfection, and the expression matches this as well. The dog is priceless! Keep it up Marlene, you’ve outdone yourself here!

I have to say, this is just an unbelievably perfect drawing. The man and the dog are outstanding, and then there is the grass! Wow. This is great. I cannot stop studying it. You are so accomplished. I love all of your work.
Simon Aberle
All I can say is….Oh My Gosh!
You have so much patience and skill for reproducing tones and proportions! Your work is absolutely outstanding!!
So realistic it is truely proffessional.
Although I have received a lot of praise for my work, it pales in comparison to yours! You have totally raised the bar my dear!!! Now I’m going to have to push myself further!
So envious =]
Simon Aberle
How did you do the grass? is there a secret to it, or just plain ol’ perseverance?
Marlene Piccolin
Hi Simon,
The answer to your question is yes. :-) There is a “secret” and a lot of perserverance too. The secret (not really a secret) is an electric eraser. I filled in a mid-tone, used the eraser randomly, went back and filled in and adjusted the tones of the grass, used the eraser some more, filled in some darks, used the eraser and just kept it up till it looked right. But that eraser was key. It’s also how I did the blanket fringe on my drawing “Bogey and Bacall” of the two cats.
Chris Baker
Just incredible, Marlene – you have a rare gift :)
