Cold,
The days of deep December,
When warmth,
Is something sweet remembered.
Cold,
The days of calendars end,
When a New Years promise,
Is round the bend.
Last years sorrows,
Melt away,
As we draw close,
New year,
New day.
Lessons learned,
From heartache suffered.
The New Year shines,
So full of luster.
The old is stored,
In memory’s banks,
And for our joys,
We’ve given thanks.
A blank sheet of paper,
Unwritten upon.
A New Year awaits,
The old one is gone.
Out with the old,
And in with the new,
But worries and problems,
Are sticky like glue.
In with the new,
And out with the old,
Grab onto your future,
Jump in and be bold!
New wonders,
And friendships,
New lessons,
And lives.
All things can seem fresh,
When a New Year arrives.
Remember the old,
But embracing the new,
And you’ll see new growth,
And new life come to you.
As a new year is upon us, it’s nice if, instead of looking at it as a brand new start, we can remember all the things we learned in the old year and bring those lessons into the new year with us. Instead of it being a fresh start, maybe a new year is a way to build onto our already rich past.

A wonderful write, Ami. I admire your positive, encouraging perspective of the new year. Another trip around the sun with no ‘real’ beginning nor end…
Oh yes, let’s build upon our already rich past! xox
Wonderful work Ami
