Not in the 'zone' by Phoxford

I’ve been back on my feet for a couple of weeks now (after a bout of sickness) but I have hardly picked up the camera. Somehow, the desire to confront a subject and mentally whittle away at it with the camera, just hasn’t been there. It’s not that the process is so onerous; I love working a subject until it surrenders those final frames; the ones that you know are the real essence of what you want to show. But somehow, my mind has just not wanted to go there.

Today, I listened to this podcast by Brooks Jensen: http://www.lenswork.com/podcast/LW0613%20-%20Sometimes.mp3

In his summary of the podcast, he argues that, “Art making does not take place at the confluence of subject and light, but at the confluence of those with the mind of the art maker – who is sometimes simply not up to the task.”
