No mountain backdrop in view, on my visit to Henningsvaer, Lofoten Islands, Norway. I had hoped for the perfect picture…Mountains of the outrageous kind, and a wonderful reflection of the old fishermen’s houses and boats…………..so I got this instead.
3 RAW files, 0EV, -2EV, +2EV, processed in Photomatix, shipped into Adobe Photoshop CS4, more selective adjustments, then sharpened and Saturated in LAB mode, plus a 50% layer of ORTON applied, to make the image “pop”.

It’s a pretty good consolation prize. A very lovely shot in its own right.
Sometimes when we see the perfect shot that we want before arriving at a destination, we often sell ourselves short. I don’t know this place or the opportunities it beholds. What I do know is that this picture does it for me as is!! I am not entirely sure if mountains in the background would have cluttered or enhanced this image.
I do however love the colour, simplicity and composition of this………….awesome!!!

Who meeds mountains when you can create such a vibrant image like this? The houses just pop right out of the picture and the lighting is so dramatic it just pulls you into the scene. Stunning photograph!
