I always shoot RAW files, so of course I use Photoshop, it is only the same as using a Dark Room but without the environmental issues that all the chemicals would have ! There is nothing wrong with using Photoshop anyway in my opinion, Photography is an Art form that must always move forward, or face stagnation !!

Hi Barbara . . . I was about to comment on this colourful and dramic image when I noted the comment from Phillip Wise . . and your response . . so thought I would add this information for anyone else considering RAW or suspicious of the mysteries of digital processing . . as Phillip seems to be?
why should I use RAW
There are of course many ways to change to appearence of an digital image without photoshop including lens selection, apperture & timings, filters and more recently “picture Styles” that can be pre-set in camera . . .
. .I have experienced and photographed many fine colourful sunsets and sunrises, the digital sensor capturing something entirely different to what my eyes / brain [compensating] told me . . .this image looks perfectly natural to me
. . .the link is to a world of fine tutorials that enlighten us to the digital darkroom processes . . . and even if an image has been adjusted? so what? the interpretation of an artist with a brush is seldom questioned . . so why photographically are we constantly challenged to justify what we produce?
. . my sincere appologies for using your gallery as a forum soap box . .
I will of course forward this comment to Phillip also

The most manipulated images are Monochrome, shot on film.

Wow! This sunset shot was captured beautifully! There’s a lot I like about this picture. I like how you left the tree as a lone silhouette and I also like how you incorporated the birds into this picture to make it more appealing to look at. The other element of this picture that I like is how you positioned the rays of light on top of the tree. Overall, this is an incredible picture.
