East Texas, USA mid to late 70’s
She walked down to the flooded river from her car. He was waiting by the boat. She got in the boat, sat down, lit a cigarette, stared into the water. They exchanged no words. It seemed so sad. The entire scene brought out the same emotions in me as John Prine’s song, “Speed of the Sound of Loneliness”.
