I think this song is appropriate. The *Playing for Change" Band made up of street muscicians from around the world. Link to their website PFC
Great Music, great cause! Worth a look! Obviously Bono is not a street musician just a believer in Playing for Change. :) Tony

Memorial Day, Indiantown Gap National Cemetary
PA USA. One of the daughters went to comfort her dad as he mourns, either a relative or perhaps a comrade who died in the Afghanistan war. The other daughter watched nervously unsure how to react.

This is the second in a series of four images with commentary that for me sum up the emotions I witnessed and felt of a day I spent at the National Cemetary for veterans outside the Indiantown Gap Military Reservation in Central PA. That day and these photos serve to remind me of the reality of war and the impact on those who have lost loved ones. I urge you to view them in order Mourning, Comfort, More Comfort and Last of the Day and hopefully take a minute to remember those who made the sacrifice, both the casualties and the survivors.

This is so moving. I’ve got a lump in my throat. I know someone who is in Afghanistan now.

  • Thank You Fran, it was moving for me being there as was the whole day. I left after sunset and was emotionally drained. tony

Wonderful and so sad. My husband is a Vietnam veteran and so I especially thank you for this lovely series.

  • Thanks Tibby, debated for quite a while on whether to put these up.
Wasn’t sure these types of photos fit Redbubble to be honest but with Memorial Day not far away maybe it would remind some of the respect we owe those who serve. Tony

What a moving tribute to the fallen. Excellent series that tells quite a powerful story. I hope you post more of this type of work. Never forget their sacrifices.

  • Thanks so much Gina! I promised myself as I drove home that Memorial Day that I wouldn’t forget and these photos won’t let me. I’ll be back this coming Memorial Day and every once in a while stop by there. It had an intense effect on me. Tony

perfect timing ! i love this image tony

  • Thanks Mike, that actually would have been harder to watch if I wasn’t looking through the camera. You know how it sometimes feels like you are removed from what is going on or not part of it when you are looking through the camera, kind of like you are in your own little world. I only feel that when doing this type of photography. Maybe it is just me?
