This is almost magical Tony! Great capture as they all are!! :0) XXSUEXX

  • I tell you Sue, it was a magical afternoon for me. I truly expected them to just be standing with their backs to the wind as they usually seem to do when it is cold, maybe it was my prescence ( I don’t see many people out in this pasture) but with the wind blowing the snow, still light flakes falling and the horses kicking up the snow it was more than I could hope for. I was so into it I didn’t realize just how cold it was til I started walking home. Thank You, Tony

    so beauiful!

  • Thank you so very much Jeanne! I read today in an e-mail from IDA that the round up of the 500 wild horses living in the Eagle Herd management area of Eastern Nevada had been postponed after the BLM recieved 9000 public comments and IDA said they would sue to stop it. Is that your herd?? I was made aware of this situation and similare fights in Calico and the Confusion Mountains in Utah which has also been postponed through another member who commented on another of my photos and who has a beautiful portfolio of a wild horse herd 30 miles outside Salt Lake, they have just recently been rounded up and are now in BLM corrals in Nevada. His name is Gene Praag and his redbubble site of the same name is worth a look. Thanks again, Tony

Hi Tony, those wild horses in the Eagle Herd are in my area and another bring roundup is also being planned for the Antelope Valley Complex near my ranch. in Nevada I photograph the wild horses every chance I get, unfortunately the BLM is gathering them up at an alarming rate soon there won’t be any free roaming horses anywhere but warehoused in holding corrals,so I am doing all I can through IDA to help save our icons of our Western Heritage and freedom. Your equine photos are stunning, I love to see them running in the snow. Jeanne

  • I am glad you like my photos but saddened and to be honest angered by what is happening. What I don’t understand is why the BLM is doing this? Seems like Wild Horses should be on the endagered species list, there are so few left from what I can tell. I am sure there are many wild creatures on the list that # more than the wild horses. Such a treasure, just makes absolutely no sense to me. Tony

An excellent series, Tony. You have captured the beauty of these animals running free so well.

  • Thanks, Gina I was lucky they were running, when is that cold they are usually standing somewhere out of the wind.
