Taken 2/06/10 after 24" of snow, Fishing Creek Valley, PA, USA There were still flurries, high winds and cold but it all combined for some interesting photos and a great day of shooting these guys. Luckily these horses are across the road from my home. We were snowed in for three days. They have little human contact, free range on about 80 acres and were surprised to see me. They never let me get any closer than 25 yards or so and sometimes, like here, they would just take off and put a lot of distance between us and I’d have to trudge through the drifts to get close again. I was definitely jealous of how they just flew through the snow.

Im in The Catskills.. not too far I suppose, considering geographic locations of RB folk :-) Lovely area there for sure.. Horse Country!

  • Not known as Horse Country really but my neighbor sure has a lot of horses. LOL He just has them, rarely does anybody ride them, they just kind of roam his property, break through his rickety old fence every once in a while, sometimes you have to chase them back to get them off the road but I like having them there for sure!

That’s awesome… WOW, what a great subject. Well done, it’s really special

  • Thanks Richard. I waited til they got down in a little swale and followed them wanting to have just snow as a background as instead of the trees in the other shots. Just as I got to the top of the hill above them they took off. To be honest I cussed under my breath and then recognized the shot and it was a Wow for me too. Tony
