Roughly one third of the way to Venice from Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana lies a town on the coast called Piran. It is a small town with a lot of postcard views. This is the sort of town that you can not drive through, unless you are a local. If you are a tourist you have to park about 10 minutes by foot in a concrete carpark designed especially for tourists. It is the sort of town were a smile greets you on every corner, as does the smell of fresh seafood. And Piran is also the sort of town I could see myself retiring in. If you are planning a trip to the Adriatic, I’ll give you a tip……. Don’t skip Piran.
