Yosemite Valley Winter 2009

Thank you Davo, I think a lot of people will. I was holding out for a while to give people time away from the other one so that this would look new and fresh. I think the lighting in this is just as outrageous as the other. Theres just more info to take in. I have photographed this spot on numerous occasions in all seasons . This has been my favorite.

Thank You Lumen Lux. It truley was. I already new what I wanted to do before I got there and I new that the round rocks would look great with the snow on them but the sun on the cliffs was the clencher!

Good afternoon Estes. Thank you for the compliments I have always wanted to go to Yosemite during or right after a snow event. Its kind of sketchy driving on the icy roads but I went for it anyway. What a great experience. I will deffinately do it again.

Thank you dinghysailor1. It is such a wonderful setting and the solitude was incredibley quiet only broken by the occasional falling of snow from the branch of a tree or the loud thunder of ice breaking away from a waterfall cliff wall and crashing to the valley floor.

Good Morning Iain I had a hard time tearing myself away for the scene itself and actually came back and shot it again later that day. I have shot this scene almost everytime I have been to Yosemite Its like and old friend who changes with the seasons.

Thank you Phil for the compliment! You have to be a little off to want to get up at 3:30 or 4 in the morning to go out and capture something like this. Here are the side benifits. No Traffic, No Tolls at the entrance to the Park. There is no one there that early. Best of all you get to quietly watch this kind of scene unfold! A lot of times there will be some other professional there and you get to share techniques and stories. Like the internet, being out there has introduced me to some very awsome people.

Thank you Jan! I never get tired of seeing images from this area either. It is such a magical place.

Every thing Is just right there right now. Was up there Friday the Dog Wood is still in bloom and the water falls are going full bore even the ones in upper Yosemite. Tioga pass is open and theres still lots of snow in the Toulomne Medows area.

Thank You very much Varinia. It is extremely hard to leave Yosemite and I always catch myself saying just one more hour! I cant tell you the late times I have come home from that place. I live about 9 hours away. Many times 1/2 way home I have had to pull over at a rest stop and go to sleep because I had to stay for one more sunset. i would love to have a house close by!
