I first sighted this amazing paint foal within a band of about six wild horses, two years ago. Last year, the herd added two new babies and lost an old mare … I had not seen them since early spring of this year, and often wondered what had become of them? … What an absolute thrill to find my curious one back in familiar territory!

As he is wandering alone, I must deduce that he has reached maturity and been driven from his tribe. Small in stature, but so beautiful — wild paints are quite rare in this territory — I hope he finds a nice mare (or several), from down the valley.
