As I was coming up to a sharp curve along the steep canyon … I gasped and shouted “STOP!”. Speechless, I jumped out of the truck and stood there, unable at first, to take it all in.

The shimmering hillside, alive with orange fritillary butterflies …. newly hatched … partaking of a feast fit for royalty; the nectar of these soft purple bachelor buttons.

No. My camera could not capture the whole marvel of it all. The scene demanded sharing, and thus the composite was created. Composite – 3 layers

Great Basin Life exists … between … high desert expanses and majestic mountain wilderness.

Daily, I watch the winds of change sweeping away what remains of our western culture and heritage, and the land that has produced them.

My mission is to preserve as much as I can, of that which will soon vanish, through my photography.

This is beautiful. Great capture and your timing was perfect.

  • Thank you, Sally! I had the advantage on them, as they seemed interested only in their flowery supper. :)
