I have been watching this small band of wild horses for about five years, now.
This mare is about three years old. Her mother — a light-colored pinto – disappeared about two winters ago. The number in this band remains constant at around six, as new foals are born and older members leave to join other herds.
Eastern Nevada, USA
They live in a fairly remote area, and apparently have not been harrassed. They made no effort to run, but paused briefly to take a look at me before ambling on their way to evening pasture.
