My friend Al walking Mars around the pasture at the end of a long trail drive. The horses had moved along at a steady canter for nearly 12 miles, and they all needed this cooling down exercise to prevent cramping.

Great Basin Life exists … between … high desert expanses and majestic mountain wilderness.
Daily, I watch the winds of change sweeping away what remains of our western culture and heritage, and the land that has produced them.
My mission is to preserve as much as I can, of that which will soon vanish, through my photography.

Awesome capture. Beautiful horse.
Thanks, Kathy!
Mars is a very high-spirited green horse. He settled down quite nicely after the first few miles. :)

I would like to meet AL. He typifies Nevada. Not A California transplant…Lynn
No, not California …. Arkansas via Montana. A true character, and yes, he fits in out here better than some natives. ;)

Another wonderful image. I can see my cowboy looking like this in a couple of years as he wanders across the paddocks with his horse.
Thank you, RM!
This one’s got a few miles on ’im, but still spunky as all get out. :)
