Sitting on my coneflowers in my front yard… Lucky capture!
Thanks to Lorilee for the heads up on what kind of butterfly this is!

I am originally from California and now living in Colorado. The landscape here has been the source of my inspiration in my photography. I have been painting for 4 years and my favorite medium is watercolor. It is free and flowing and has a life of its own. Creativity can be quite random in my style and in what I paint. Sometimes I don’t even know what I will be painting till my canvas is saturated. I then get a visual in the abstract and embellish on that.

I do believe that you have a Viceroy butterfly here, they mimic the Monarch as a protective aspect of their nature, because the Monarch is distasteful to predators. What ever kind it is, it is just stunning and is very beautiful in the frame. Dee

  • I will have to google and see what the differences are. I have never heard of a Viceroy B. Interesting… Thanks so much!

    Awesome capture, Pamela!

  • Thank you Bela!!! This is from last year. I have not run into any in my yard ‘yet’ this year. My butterfly bushes just bloomed so I am hoping they attract some pretty butterflies for me to capture!
