Queensland Aluminium Refinery Gladstone by

This imposing sight is actually a tourist destination in Gladstone. A self purposed lookout was built to allow an uninterrupted view of this incredible structure, the largest aluminium refinery in the Southern Hermisphere.

This baby comes in at a cool $5 billion or so to build. Those onimous plumes of smoke are not going to kill you. They are in fact steam pouring out night and day.

Speaking of night, the view after dark is even more dramatic as orange smoke billows into the night sky.

If you are heading to Gladstone on the Central Queensland Coast, one of our country’s biggest industrial locations, you can’t miss a visit to this lookout. The sheer size will blow your mind.
