Swan Lake might be a famous ballet but its also the name of a not so famous inland freshwater lake on Phillip Island in Victoria.

A hidden spot only the locals know about, is this secluded destination at the end of a 20 minute stroll along a man made inland track.

Bird watchers will be enthralled with the vast variety of species who frequently inhabit the trees along the path and come to drink at the lake itself.

Several dedicated bird watching wooden huts have been built for undisturbed viewing of the lake and its birdlife from different vantage points.

A real hidden gem that is worth exploring for anyone who enjoys nature and bushwalks and photography of course. I only wish I’d had a long telephoto lens with me when I visited.
