A new favourite place to visit; the Kyneton Botanic Gardens on the banks of the Campaspe River. Kyneton is 85km North West of Melbourne and is a scenic country town overflowing with heritage buildings and gourmet restaurants, arts and antique shops. Its an easy hour’s drive along the Calder Highway for a lovely day trip.
The Botanic Gardens are teeming with towering trees, and in autumn the man made paths and steps are awash with autumn leaves. The Campaspe River runs along its length.
I felt like I was walking through the english countryside.
There were picture postcard scenes everwhere you looked, You could be mistaken for feeling like you were taking part in a fantasy story.
The gardens have walking paths winding in and around them. You need to walk down some uneven steps made of stone and earth to reach the river at the point in the photograph. However, further along the river a concreted path takes you for a pleasant 1 -2 km walk along the river that is suitable for all abilities.
