Where would we stand now if we didnot have local voices standing up to be heard by forming groups to protest when a local area is under threat. Years ago Lake Peddar in Tasmania was under threat and committee came together to fight for the environment. Such committee ACF-Australia Conservation Foundation was formed in 1965. The Foundation is to give a voice for promoting understanding of conservation and what it means to us all-the environment. The Lake Peddar controversey became National and was brought to the Federal Government. Lake Peddar-National Park VS. Hydro Electricity. Ten Years later Tasmania had another battle as two Wilderness Photoghraphers, Olegas and Peter took it on themselves to take photo’s of the unique landscape of the Franklin River and its surrounding landscape inwhich was under threat. They brought it to the world and started a National Compaign to save it from a similar fate as the Lake Peddar outcome.
Now Tasmania once again are fighting to be heard, Environment VS. Pulp Mill in the Tamar Valley Launceston.
One might ask, does the State Government or Federal Government have a lack of informative information documentation on the damage of the surrounding enviroment the Pulp Mill would course. Does the voice of the people standing up for the enviroment not matter anymore. Or is it that they have no intentions of listening or abiding by any proposal set out by the ACF or smaller groups who will be affect by the outcome. Is the Government more worried about trade off’s by the Commercial companies and the high’s and low’s of the stock market inwhich they may gain from by swaying a certain direction in favour of Commercial Companies than how these Commercial Companies are shaping our ENVIRONMENT FOR THE FUTURE!
Thankyou, I would Love To Hear From You on Enviroment VS. Pulp Mill
