bad news

a work of faction, or fiction…. I forget which
trying, failing, hoping, falling, realisation, numbness, waiting

Follows Relief
her circumstances

“It is relatively common for someone your age in your circumstances”
I didn’t believe him.
And what are ‘my circumstances’ anyway?
The way he pulled at his tie as he said it
The way he looked at the blank pages on his desk
The way he trailed off.
He didn’t believe it either.
“The bad news is that it’s more likely to happen again, since it’s already happened twice”
Only yesterday I was talking about wanting a big family
About how I’d keep going until my body gave up

I never thought it would give up before I started

The fiction in the description is the only good news in this. The things in life that floor us are seldom thought about before hand…

To say you write some thought-provoking work would be an understatement. I find this less gut-wrenching yet more moving than “Relief”.

Jo… this is very powerful, and thought provoking. Speaking as someone who has two children, a beautiful daughter and ‘active’ son, it is sometimes difficult to understand the wanting and the inability to have when you already have them, for me it is how would I be if they were taken from me. that is hard enough.
Fiction or not it is a relevant piece

Well, that shook the usual silliness out of me. I hadn’t yet read the blurb saying it wasn’t true when I started and it almost crushed my heart. Now, I’m not sure but I believe the word is faction applies because this is a true story in many aspects. The pain is real, if reflected and mirrored from someone else. I am not a woman so I can’t relate to this as much as any woman can. But I can relate thru the experiences of a friend a long, long time ago, maybe 30 years. She died soon thereafter from the cancer that left her void.

Damn it. Now I freaking crying again. (sigh) Oh well, I’m a man who can handle that so I’ll just enjoy it quietly for a while. Jo, thanks for helping me release it…

great writing. I have lost 4 babies, still no children. Every doctor has always been so fact related.
