Learn How To Sell Art

My primary goal for the next 3 months is to help you sell your art. Selling stuff used to be my profession, but now it is my passion. And I have plans about how I might help you make more money from your art and designs. But before I spend hours doing research, conducting interviews and writing articles, I’d like to know, what you want to know. I don’t profess to know it all, but I’ll be giving it my all to find out!

Do you have a question about marketing or selling your own art? I’d like to hear it

If I could just create stuff as good as all of you guys.
I’ll be learning and following by ya’lls examples.
But, with a touch of me thrown in…;-)

    Thanks, Roy

while I’m here, can I advise everyone to take this young lass up on her offer. I’ve got so many quality pushes, nudges and kicks from Jo that have set me on the right course. I can see the mistakes she warned me about, and I’ve used her advice dozens of times to make a little bit of money here and there

    She knows stuff

I’d love to see some interviews with those who sell well on RB (or elsewhere for that matter) – ideas that they’ve found worked and, just as useful, those that didn’t eg. for photography I’ve found exhibitions a complete waste of time and money and it would have been useful to know this before outlaying the time and money – they seem to work for art but not at all well for photos as far as I can tell – been in several exhibitions with mixed artists and photographers – the art sold, the photographs didn’t.

I really want to know how to make it more likely something will go viral. My dream is to get one thing to catch on and make me a billionaire. Can you do that for me? The internet is for making money, I just haven’t figured out how to do it properly yet.

Thanks Jo – – a couple of questions… art sold on the web compared to art sold “on the spot”... what are the differences? Is there different appeals to those who buy in the different situations of web to live? Some-one metioned it would be good to know some of the details of those who successfully sell thru redbubble – this would be great info. When selling direct – what type of presentation works the best – ie: framed, canvas-no frame, mounted, large or small, etc. ... thx

What a wonderful idea! I’d love to learn more. Do you need an expensive SLR digital camera in order to get the shots? I’ve gone from my only 35mm SLR to point and shoot to subcompact digital cameras. Now I’m wondering if I have to go back to the clunky camera sizes in digital SLR in order to really sell my work. What a selfless act to put your expertise on the line to help others sell their photos. Thank you!!!

i love red bubble and i know im on it every day but in the end i cant see how my work can stand out among 80,000 artists most of which are photographers, which seam to sell better online.

it would be good to hear from some of the top selling fine artists (painters etc)
also i’m a young artist and havn’t got a lot of cash to outlay, what are some ideas for getting your business started, building your exposure and starting to sell your artwork.

i had a look at your ideas for selling cards and selling at art markets these are good, but unless i print my own copies of my work or sell from originals i know that selling my work printed through red bubble is too expensive.
all advice welcome. thanks a lot Jo

Hi, newbie here. I recently took the Bull by the horns. Made a deal with an upscale Restaurant to Sponsor a one person show for me. They received recognition and I also did.
The banquet room I was able to use was huge and gorgeous. My set up (60+) paintings filled the room in an easy to maneauver and professional manner. Flowers, cjomplimentary wine & cheese. I had Banners produced . Designed beautiful invitations (60+) printed and mailed them all. Set Posters in local venues. A tremendous amt of work went into all of this.
My list of invites included Every Art Gallery in the area. Every horse farm, equestrian facilities (of which there are many here). Gated upscale Neighborhoods. etc.

Only 4 people showed up. (Plus my supportive family and friends,.

I did receive one very valuable contact and sold one small painting, and greeting cards. HELP! What am I missing? I have been told my artwork is exc eptional and beautiful. HELP.
