The things I promised myself
It’s just over half way through the year and I promised myself to try some new things artistically during 2008. I have a tendency to expect a lot from myself so I guess this is my way of keeping on track and at the same time acknowledging what I have achieved so far.

yes good for you…you’re doing great

Congratulations! What a great start to the year and a nice list to be able to look back on at the end as a list of achievements.
I often start lists like these. My problem is that the lists just get longer and longer. Don’t seem to have the art of putting a full stop at the end of it. Still. I’ve learnt to accept that achieving even half of a-continually-growing-list still counts as a success!

I have the habit of racing through ideas so fast that I hardly stop to appreciate it

Star Trail Photography
Zing! Astrophotography? That got my attention. Did I miss them? ;)
Jo O'Brien
replied
You didn’t miss them. I never posted. Much like how you’ve never seen my drawing or mixed media works, there are a lot of creative things I do that I am yet to share publicly. I can be stupidly shy about some things.

Wow you are ambitious! What a wonderful list of accomplishments. I am thinking that the toughest one for you will be the “2 consecutive weekends with free time” Move that to the top of your priority list. Great idea to list things like that. Congratulation on all of your accomplishments Jo.

My partner just laughed out loud upon seeing that one. 2 weekends… in a row? It’s going to be tough.
Benjamin Scheurer
Way to go Jo…nICe LIsT there!

Oh, processing your own film? Great idea. I do that here and love it to bits, whether it’s b&w by hand or cranking out the processor to do colour slide (E6) for me. Watching film dry is fun! ;)

last item in your to-do’s, i sense a flash-mobbing opportunity…

I’m sure you’re doing better than most of us, Jo. How did “zero interest for money” feel, anyway?
Jo O'Brien
replied
I felt like a man forced to dig a hole and then forced to fill it again. It was just pointless and joyless.
Natalie Perkins
Oh I hope I’m in Melbourne town for that!

I really need to make a list like this. The first thing on the list…..make a list like this. :)

that’s some going Jo – looking into getting a polaroid myself and i love my Holga – can’t wait to see what you come up with. How was it taking photos you have no interest in but got paid for it?
Jo O'Brien
replied
Yes, still trying to find time to do the Holga thing. I’m in brain storm mode while I dream up things to click at.

I’ll be able to help you achieve “Get a large number of people together in one place to make art” in a few months time!!!

Well done! And well done for codifying your intention – so important to do.

I have a bucket list too…..now you’ve inspired me to go look for it! :)
Stephen Mitchell
Ah, great list. I’d love to have two consecutive weekends with free time.
Maybe I’ll have to get over to Melbourne again to be in that ‘large number of people together in one place making art’ !

Jo
Come to Brisbane and get a group of people together to make art?
You are a great organiser and I need to find some new friends in Brisbane ;-)

Great to have goals & actually achieve them…Way to go for the rest x ;)
