citrus beach

Jo O'Brien

citrus beach

Scratched negatives, cross processing, accidental double exposures. These are the magic and spontaneity of using film. The little mistakes or slips that create unique works of art.

In this digital age, where do we find such wonderful mistakes? Recently James took this photo of me jumping around on the beach.

The memory card corrupted and we were left with a strange hot pink band across most of the image. My first reaction was “what a shame” but I quickly fell in love with it and had a play. Probably because it stood out from the 50 other ‘perfectly good’ images.

I give it a Thumbs Up!

In art classes we referred to them as “happy accidents”.
In the process of creating the unexpected occurs, is it a blessing or a curse?
The more creative eye discovers a new prize.
    The brave ones reveal them.
    The hungry ones devour them.

    Hey Jo,

I love what you did with that image. The use of tint to bring attention to her face and draw it away from her body isn’t only abstract but a we bit genious. I’m going to add you to my watch list i like the creative energy I pick up from this digital media.

    Peace love and Happiness,

    Billy
