From the British television series: The Monarch of the Glen. The real name of the estate is: Ardverikie Estate, Kinlochlaggan, Inverness-shire, Scotland.
- The posh English owners of Ardverikie house – meaning High Place of the Banners – rented their home for around pounds 100,000 to be used as the fictional Highland castle Glen Bogle.
And the bill was pushed up even more after the film company gave the castle a complete re-decoration – and then added fake dust and cobwebs.
No expense was spared in the bid to bring the story of eccentric Highland laird Hector MacDonald and his reluctant only son and heir, Archie, to the small screen. – ref: http://www.thefreelibrary.com/BBC’S+pound...
