Montreal’s Biodome
I cloned out the tag on one of the penguins wings.
I just love those penguins, and they like us! They keep following us when we move from one corner of the glass to the other.

Wow, fantastic colours on these penguins. I think I am going to have to check out the Biodome
Hi Michael, sure, it’s worth the trip. But we cannot use our tripod and flash inside. So we have to check for the available light, but we manage to capture good photos. This one, there is a glass wall, so not to catch the reflections on your photos, you have to position your camera pretty straight to the glass. But I guess you know allready :) Thx very much and take care!

Do you know if they had a lens size restriction?
No, thx goodness. :)
Well what size do you talk about, because you don’t need a 600 mm lens at the biodome.
You can use your tripod outside at the gardens.
Inside it is because they don’t want the animals to be disturbed and because most of the time, there is too many people to have a tripod opened. They keep your tripod at the admission, if you have one with you.

I guess a 300mm would work fine
Sure, here you see I used my 28-135mm lens @135mm. For the penguins, at the distance I am from them, it is perfect. And it is on my 40d which has a 1.6 magnification factor. But in other places, where there are the birds in an opened space, your 300mm could work if it’s a fast lens. Anyways, bring two to make sure :)

I also had my 100-400mm zoom with me.
