8, DU CUL-DE-SAC Street.
Old Quebec City, Place Royale
Between: NOTRE-DAME & CHAMPLAIN)
(Near: rue du Marché-Champlain and boul. Champlain)

In 1668, Mr Gauvreau, a master-musketeer and husband of Catherine of Montbrun, built a wooden house on the premises. In 1670, the house was destroyed by fire. Several years later, in 1740, a certain Mr D’Amour built a new house in stone. Since this day, the establishment has been named the « Maison d’Amour ». The Bistrot opened its doors for the first time in 1984. The proprietor, a man named George, enjoyed the French red wine Chateauneuf-du-Pape. He named his business the Bistrot Pape Georges, and the name has remained ever since. ref: http://www.papegeorges.com/pa.html
