Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral, Quebec City, Quebec, also known as Our Lady of Quebec City is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Quebec. The Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral, Quebec City is located at 20, rue de Buade and is one of the prime religious tourist attractions in Quebec City.

Built in 1633, the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral, Quebec City is dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-la-Recouvrance by Champlain which is dubbed as the ‘Founder of Quebec’. Part of the oldest parish in North America, the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral in Quebec City is rated to be the first church in the continent that was elevated to the rank of minor basilica in 1874 by Pope Pius IX and since then it is dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-l’Immaculee-Conception.

Known for its rich architectural style, the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral was rebuilt in various stages of history due to various reasons. The first renovation took place in 1600s when a fire destroyed the church. After which the basilica went through major renovations in 1700s and 1800s. It was during these times when the architectural style was changed and Neo Classical elements were included in the exterior outlook of the Catholic Cathedral. The last renovation dates back to 1930 when the cathedral was once again destroyed by fire in 1922.

Tourists and Pilgrims are enthralled by the interior of the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral which was designed by Jean Baillairge and his son Francois in 1786-1822. The golden baldaquin near the altar is considered one of the most attractive aspects of the basilica.

Tourists will also love the stained glass windows of the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral, Quebec City. One can also view the chancel lamp which was gifted to the basilica by Louis XIV. The impressive collection of the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral also consists of Episcopal throne dais, paintings reflecting biblical episodes and canopy.

The crypt of the Notre-Dame de Quebec Basilica-Cathedral, Quebec City is known to be the resting space for four governors of New France and bishops of Quebec including the first bishop of the city – Francois de Laval.
