Little Gangster

Little gangster,
Five years old,
Family’s a mess,
Believes what both his parents say,
Never second guessed.
Little gangster,
Six years old,
Brothers both in jail,
Dad’s on drugs, Mom’s on streets,
His skin is bruised and pale.
Little gangster,
Seven years old,
Mother’s buried deep,
He’s never had a birthday cake,
He’s never learnt to read.
Little gangster,
Eight years old,
Forced to join the gang,
His mind is weak his body frail,
His eyes are dark and blank.
Little gangster,
Nine years old,
Dad is old but tough,
Makes him do his dirty work,
The money’s not enough.
Little gangster,
Ten years old,
Dad lies under stone,
Now he roams the streets at night,
Too young and all alone.
Little gangster,
Eleven years old,
Tries to make things right,
He doesn’t want to steal or kill,
He doesn’t want to fight.
Little gangster,
Twelve years old,
Finally has a home,
Adopted by a loving couple,
But the wounds won’t ever go.
