Artist's Description

This B&W picture of a Totem Pole is retouched in Adobe Photoshop CS3. The lips and eyes are filled with the original color. The rest of the shot has been converted to black and white.

Totem poles are monumental sculptures carved from great trees, usually cedar, but mostly Western Redcedar, by a number of Indigenous cultures along the Pacific northwest coast of North America. The word “totem” is derived from the Ojibwe word odoodem, “his totem, his kinship group”. source: wikipedia
