I was leaning nonchalantly against the glass, gently swirling my wine with accustomed ease, while behind me the days last rays bronzed the hillside vineyards with serendipity. I was aware of this, albeit subliminally, but I could afford this tinge of aloofness as I was the outsider, the partner invited by default, so nobody knew I was there. And besides, I was distracted.
Tonight I watched you in a crowded room.
You were radiant in a golden beam of diffused sunlight. You were holding court to an aura of admirers, fending off compliments with genuine humility. I saw their captivation even if you did not. I saw also the smiles and laughter in your eyes, the highlights in your hair, the lines of your expressions that I have grown accustomed to reading, the movements of your hands about you, your lips speaking with articulate grace, the enigmatic regal edge to your humble bearing, your smooth unblemished skin, the soft rosé glow tinting your cheeks, your mature self-confidence…
Tonight I watched you in a crowded room.
And in those moments my heart and mind joined together with nineteen years of history and coalesced into a single, powerful epiphany. You are truly beautiful.

But it wasn’t the first time. And it won’t be the last. You are always my love epiphany.
