C’mon!
She’d seen a thing or two in her time.
The spilt Vodka, the discarded lime.
And she’d played the right games.
When short a nickel, a dime.
She’d faced down all the devils inside.
The faded bruises, damaged pride.
And she’d suffered for self gain.
Staying head up, holding the tide.
She’d done some things to get ahead.
The lonely cry, the empty bed.
And she’d reasoned them harshly.
Better to be, than be dead.
She’d borne her own tragedy, often enough.
The fallen friends, the white snuff.
Yet she continued to stand tall.
No harlot, no scruff.
She’d paid her dues on the streets of life.
The smashed bottle, the furtive flick knife.
Yet she commanded her own space.
Had no boss, no-ones wife.
She’d done what she had to create her sun.
Point of needle, barrel of gun.
Yet her life was her own.
And her cry “C’mon!”

This is touching to me… we all have a life story, but sometimes we see our past knocking at the door of our present… and it sometimes is also A present…
Thanks for sharing yourself as you do…
Great combination of words… Great understanding of life. (well, at least “some” life… ;) )
