Have had this shot sitting on my PC for about a year – (it had some messy artifacts that bothered me) – so I finally got around to doing a little PS work on it to tidy the foreground and add a touch of contrast. Very happy with this one.

Wow, such a strong shot! Is this composed of several shots? Seems like the moon is in the wrong spot to cast such bright light on the front of the train, and the shadow of the chimney. Even if it is, a great work. Hard to tell if its real or not!

For those who asked:
Running through the Goldfields of Central Victoria, the Victorian Goldfields Railway brings to you the experience of Steam Railway Travel. Linking the historic towns of Castlemaine and Maldon, the old steam train takes you through Box-Iron Bark forest in a region that saw some of the richest gold mining in Australia.
This shot was taken on the turntable at the Castlemaine end of the line so the foreground is lit by the station lights behind me. I darkened the area below the turntable because it was, well, very dull.

When I was a lad back in the fifties and sixties we had a railway station here in Blyth and I used to love being enveloped in the lovely white steam that puffed out of the trains – happy day – thanks for reminding me.
