I have loved photography all of my life. My father bought me my first camera when I was only 6 years old (and then regretted it for the next ten when he had to buy me more film and develope what I had taken on a weekly basis. LOL ) When I had my child 15 years ago, I got into Portrait photography in studios. I worked for some major retail studios for about 10 years, 8 of which was as a manager. Now I am trying to break out into freelance work and “building” up the equipment as I can. I am not one of the photographers that finds a “nitch” and stays there. I take photos of people, still lifes, animals, pets, sunrises, sunsets, insects, flowers, landscapes…you name it, I will take it. (Except Porn and nudity, I will NOT do porn or nudity!!! I have been asked! lol) For now I am working with what I have which is a Pentax K110. No extra lenses. No extra photoshops, just my camera and computer. Oh, and Picassa which I recommend to everyone!!! That is a lovely program….and it is free!!!!
So far I have been published in compilation books through photolaureates and picture.com a total of 6 times and had my photos printed in our local paper twice. I have also been the photographer for a local company and been printed in their monthly newsletter a few times. I have not had much luck selling my photos online so far but I still hold out some hope that it could happen.
As a member of several different photo sites, I will say that if I comment on your work I will ALWAYS be HONEST!!! If I think something could be better I will try to tell you what and how or why. I have left at least three different sites due to pettiness on the part of the members. If I give a critique it is to help other photographers improve, not out of spite!!! Please take any critique as an opportunity to learn and grow. That is how it is intended!
