Yesterday I heard some loud banging up near the neighbour’s chook pen. When I looked out the window, I saw them searching amongst a large pile of wood.
“Found yourself a snake there?” I asked.
“Yep, a dirty great big one,” came the reply.
You’re not wrong… this big Eastern Brown snake has been stealing their eggs, and killed one of their chooks yesterday. It was 6 feet long… maybe more. I certainly wasn’t going to pull out the tape measure! I was happy just to snap a few pics (none of them great) and get out of there safely.
The Eastern Brown snake is the second deadliest snake in the world, beaten only by the Inland Taipan… also an Aussie snake.
