Apostle Birds might look drab and uninteresting with their brown mottled feathers, but they are full of character. I often line one of these birds up in my viewfinder only to have them fly away laughing before I can get a focus. This abstract shot came about in this manner. The Apostle Bird on the branch above me jumped over to the next one just as I pushed the shutter, where he sat and chuckled down at me. My own movement as I tried in vain to follow him caused this effect. I’m not sure why, but I like it.
