I woke up one morning at Hedlow Creek (Qld, Aust) to find Cooper playing with what looked like a rock. When I got closer, I found that it was a Snakeneck Turtle.
‘What are you doing here?’ I asked him. ’You’re supposed to be in the creek. You’re a turtle, not a tortoise, silly’. We picked him up, took lots of photos (as you do) and then released him quite happily back into the creek.
Turtles (and tortoises) are regarded by many different cultures as being good luck animals. This is why I’m always nice to turtles… it pays to be careful. ;o)
