This is my daughter’s dog, Buddy. He’s going to be my granddaughter’s best friend and protector. He’s a very different dog than he was a year ago.
About then we found Buddy abandoned and took him in. He was hungry, thirsty and very nervous. I soon found a scar on his throat that shows that he’s been de-barked. That and the fact that he’s a full male, his age, the fact that he’s a purebred (as far as I can tell, and I know dogs) and had few social skills makes me think that he may have been used as a specific breeder on a puppy farm. I suspect he reached his peak age and was dumped to make room for a younger generation. It happens all too often around here.
We trained him up a little and got him used to human and canine contact, then he went to live with my daughter and granddaughter. He’s absolutely thriving there now, and he’s turned out to be wonderfully gentle and loving. He’s going to be a good friend for my granddaughter as she grows.
