Bulk carrier HANJIN HAYPOINT leaving Newcastle Harbour and Nobbys Lighthouse loaded with export coal. The coal was loaded at the Kooragang Island facility which is currently undergoing expansion to over 150 million tonnes per year.
This coal will be used for electricity generation to raise the standard of living of those people living overseas up to that now enjoyed by people in Australian today. Coal fired power turbines are more efficient and practical due to economies of scale, 1 coal fired turbine is equivilent to over 1,000 wind turbines 24/7.. The greens want coal mining in the Hunter Valley to cease and the export of coal to stop and ignore the poverty levels of people living overseas.
