With the recent devasting storms in Brisbane, Qld Australia, the news brought home the extreme weather pattern that Newcastle NSW experienced in June 2007. During this fierce storm the coal ship, the Pasha Bulka arrived uninvited on Nobby’s Beach and looked like it was there to stay. However after a few attempts, the ship was eventually towed off the sand and today is trading under a new name. During the height of the storm the brave crew of the rescue helicopter airlifted the stranded crew from the ship plus provided help with its final removal from our shores. Submitted 23.11.08

Brilliant shot Phil…including the chopper caps off the drama nicely.

Rosalie and Woodyk2, this shot was taken during the latter stages of the recovery operation where the chopper was ferrying items to and from the ship. The wide beam of the ship keeps it from rolling over onto its side. Thanks for taking the time to comment.
