At a gate, near the present homestead, looking back to where the old homestead once stood in grandeur, amid the tall palms, before it was burnt out in the fires of 1944.

    Incredibly beautiful, the whole picture but most especially the sad noble defender of what’s gone. And you remind me that when I lived on a huge farm in Virginia I painted a similar gate turquoise at the entranceway. It just flew out at you for the color. You’ve made a beautiful photograph here.

    It’s beautiful! You did a great job on the pic. And it’s good your family kept the old homestead.
    Hopefully, somebody will want to rebuild and move out there. Looks like a on-house ghost town.
