This shot of Vesuvius, was taken from downtown Pompei in 1969.
This is a scanned slide taken with a Konica T3 35mm SLR.
This city was destroyed when Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.

    I was there in 1969, and yes, it’s quite an experience to walk through such a perfectly preserved ancient city such as Pompei was. The preservation of the destruction was something special to see.

    What a beautiful shot. The arch in the foreground seems to be leading the viewer to Mount Vesuvius, We are still learning today from the Romans.This is an instant favorite for me.
