Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1959. I developed an interest in photography in my early twenty’s. In 1983 I moved to London where I attended a night course at the Central School of Art in Holborn where I was introduced to Black & White film and printmaking. During this time I also began to photograph in a more documentary style and produced an exhibition and a booklet for the GLC about the long term unemployed in the Lambeth area. In 1985 I attended the London College of Printing where I received a Diploma in Photojournalism. From 1986 to 1988 I worked as a freelance assistant with a variety of photographers, both in studios and on location. In 1989 I began to work shooting portraits and reportage for editorial clients such as ID Magazine, Time Out, Taste, Tatler, and Design Week, also for design companies producing brochures for clients such as Vauxhall, Egon Ronay, and Edwin Shirley Staging, and with ACE Records photographing up and coming musicians. Since 1994 I have been based in Tenerife in the Canary Islands where I work with the local press and island business and also go travelling when I can. I am available for commissions and have easy access to anywhere in Europe. Contact me on +34 616835793 or e-mail creanphil@hotmail.com.
