If you turn your light off. where does it Go ?
:-)
Philosophy Lee replied
The Shadow knows…
:)
Better reply to follow.
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Jim…
If ‘it’ is the shadow, I believe it’s the shadow (Nothingness) that is what we’re enveloped in.
If ‘it’ is “your light”, I believe it returns to Nothingness/ consciousness.
invisible
you bet ! ;-) ...I love it !
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Andre…
Thank you for your always so positive comments.
They’re greatly appreciated :)
Romo
So it is our outer body is the shadow and our inner soul which casts the light?
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Robin… I like “our inner soul which casts the light”.
The outer body being the shadow is an interesting thought.
Lina would say (and I would agree with her) whatever makes you feel good now :)

The world is full of short phrase Gurus. Life and light is what we make it. Life, the quality of, is how we take it.

A ‘short phrase Guru’ AND a poet :)

Light comes from a source
Source may be obscured by darkness before it shines
Source may even be obscured by it own light when it shines
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Lahab…
I believe the Source is Nothingness/ pure consciousness. We began in the dark (and still are in a lot of senses) and Somehow created Light (I would imagine thought energy came first).
Your comments are deep, well thought out, and greatly appreciated.

Bonjour ! You Know ! I like you very much and i like to say it , because it’s nice to say it when you feel it …la la la la ….andre

Positive and honest…
two commendable qualities…
I like that about you Andre :)

But if black hole in heart sucks the Light right out of you,
how should you follow your heart…
when there’s no escaping The Void?
Russ
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Russ…
Let’s get comfortable with ‘The Void’.
Nothing appartently ‘knows’ what it’s doing.
The other side of a ‘black hole’ may be a white soul :)
“Follow your bliss” Joseph Campbell

I like this very much 8))) great play on words and concepts…. perhaps the shadow is our higher self / consciousness that is always there, casting the light in the moments of darkness… ;)
Philosophy Lee replied
”... consciousness that is always there,...”
We’re never alone…
We’re always surrounded by Nothingness/ pure consciousness.
I believe we’re on the same page friend.
Verangel
yes definitely…. it is nice to hold that awareness that we are not alone, even though it may feel that way sometimes…. that’s why i like the play of words shadow / light, because one can never be without the other, even though each one of them may feel like they are the only one….
Philosophy Lee replied
If light came from darkness…
then light is a creation of darkness/ Nothingness…
therefore… light requires Nothing/ darkness to exist…
whereas Nothing/ darkness requires nothing.
krystle93
graet way to put it realy makes you think
Philosophy Lee replied
Thanks krystle93…
I’m glad you enjoy thinking (or I hope you do).
Nice to meet you :)
Sally Omar
Never thought of it that way!!! Hugs, Sally xxxxoooo
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Sally…
This is one of my favorites. I want my work to be thought-provoking, and your comment makes me feel like I have accomplished that.
I am honored to be addressing you as (you know) I think you’re the Bob Dylan of redbubble. I am in awe of your work and the amount of time you invest in bubbleland. May it ‘pay off’ for us all. With Love…
:)
tinhearts
i believe the light makes the shadows and when we are perfectly pure and have shaken off all the dust then no more shadow ;)
but what do i know ;)

NordicBlackbird
beautifully said.
peace & light to you :))

A few small words, a universe of inspiration…...
we need them both…..there would be no light without darkness to offset it.

“Existing man”... :)
But what “if light doesnt come from darkness” ??
Philosophy Lee replied
Whatever make the most sense to you friend.
I see Nothingness as the original state of things.
From Nothingness came everyonewherething, light included.
I honestly don’t know, but this makes the most sense to me.

cool one mq

This got me chasing my tail…..spin time. I have to unthink how I first took this in….this is a paradox to me. ?
Matt Penfold
therefore you should not have to pay the power bill
Pipple
I have to add my bit…you say
‘If light came from darkness…
then light is a creation of darkness/ Nothingness…
therefore… light requires Nothing/ darkness to exist…
whereas Nothing/ darkness requires nothing.’
and I add my bit…but black/darkness absorbs light so perhaps they need aech other.
Philosophy Lee replied
Perhaps!
Thank you for thinking so deeply,
and for your thoughtful comment… :)
liesbeth
sure they need each other.. without darkness we would never truly understand the light. xx
Christine Boretti
Well thought!
Philosophy Lee replied
Likewise, I’m sure.
:)
JohnScottArtist
yes, and how long is a piece of light?
Philosophy Lee replied
imo… as long as Nothingness wants it to be…
or
as long as it wants to be.
May never know, but it’s fun to think about.
An honor and pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Thank you! :)
JohnScottArtist
funny thing about “no thing” the most incomprehensible “reality” (if reality is the right word), a total annihilation of thought/existence. I’ve also pondered that for many hours. I think that “state” is what separates existence and deity… for deity’s protection?. I’ve wondered that “god” might be a constant child, in absolute pure awareness, no thought, no body, nothing but the energy of awareness, every time we die we add to “it’s” awareness.
gynnirox
I’m getting confused…
all these people have different thoughts, but when i read it, i thought this:
ok, so darkness is like innocence, oblivion, ignorance, and light is the understanding.
or maybe, it’s pondering something and finally getting the answer, like a light getting switched on.
maybe you were explaining the significance behind the comprehension light bulb in cartoons! =D
Philosophy Lee replied
I was with ya ‘til ‘cartoons’...
”’What do you mean?’ is always an appropriate question.” a Communications professor I once had… Re: cartoons… what do you mean? I Love your comparison of darkness and light…
Good thinking gynni! and very good communicating.
Lee :)
gynnirox
you know, like Loony Tunes or whatever,
the little light bulb that flashes on over their heads whenever they have an epiphany or something.
you honestly didn’t pick up on that?
DanaMS
I read it yesterday. It made me thinking. It made me thinking so much that I had to write something about it today, lol! Hope you like it!
Great thought! Thank you! :)
Philosophy Lee replied
You are really something else Dana.
You honor me and my work.
Sincerely! :)

Darkness cannot penetrate light, but light cannot exist without darkness.
Philosophy Lee replied
Hi Simon… Love your work!
What if Nothing (which is dark, by ‘nature’)(which was here before anything) created light? In this case, I would imagine that it (darkness) could ‘penetrate’ anything. Heck if I know, but it’s fun to think about, and I do appreciate your Time and energy! :)
Simon Aberle
Thanks!
That theory requires some further contemplation, but perhaps it is one of those things we cannot grasp.
Simon Aberle
How can no-thing create something?
Philosophy Lee replied
It wanted to.

This I have to think about….........S
Paul Rees-Jones
Light is a word…Dark is another…created by us…so we don’t have to shudder…
: { )}
Philosophy Lee replied
Excellent Paul! Thank you…
:)
Shoaib .
I think theres something off about the paradox itself… darkness comes from the lack of light, light doesnt come from the lack of darkness… so i think that the shadows of the light are casting the darkness not the other way around…
good thoughts here p. lee !
Philosophy Lee replied
Shoaib… I believe if you think about it, it was dark before there was light…
Nothingness/space is black/dark… Before the original thought/vibration,
it was totally black… Nothing!
Thank you as always for your thoughtful comments.

Shadow is from hiding from the light, if there is no light there is no shadow, if there is no good or happyness to attain there is no regret for not achieveing them. It all depends on what you think light is I suppose.
Philosophy Lee replied
To me… light, literally, comes from the sun.
But what did the sun come from?
Nothing! Nothing (darkness)(in a good sense) created
all that is… thought, matter, energy… Love.
imo…
Thank you so much for sharing your heartfelt thoughts sm! :)
Blanchot
You sure did get them worked up on this one, me too, for that matter. I find it interesting that you choose to invoke the “literal” source of light, the sun, to back up your metaphysical supposition. Ultimately, however, could it be that this is no more than an especially clever instance of begging the question? In fact, it must be, for the specter of the infinite regress looms as large over this metaphysical word play than it does over all others. Nonetheless, clearly a piece which darkened the brow of many a reader. Come back: RBG

jees lee, phew! i was doing ok til i read through all these comments, now i’m trapped in a locked-on paradoxical love bullet, nothing (darkness) created something (me) and something (me) will never create anything if i dont get off this page immediately, you’re wonderful x
Philosophy Lee replied
trapped? ;)
Philosophy Lee replied
”... nothing (darkness) created something…”
This is the heart/crux of this piece…
You, tracy, have nailed the head on the hit… hehe
Very few have gotten this…
It is YOU who is wonderful… ok… we’re both wonderful! ta ;)
joanna77
wonderful and inspiring. I read some notes last night from a course I did a 2 years ago. Blackness is the male componate of God’s identity. White is the feminine

i love paradoxes-so interesting..
cosimopiro
A lovely play….a dance of shadows casting light….from the dark came light…..good to know that there is light within the darkness awaiting manifestation.
Tom Krantz
If its the shadow that casts the light..
Where does that put us in respect towards our shadows?
Do we dare personify our inanimate self?
