Where She's Not Welcome by Patrick Hickey
Clear

A “pit bull” wearing a pink collar looking down main street of a small town. She is feared and discriminated against because of what she looks like. She is a victim of the media which portrays her as a vicious killer even though she was the one thrown from a car on a freeway when she was 5 months old.

She looks like my dog. Everyone is afraid of her but she is so sweet to everybody she meets. She plays very gentile with her kitten. This shot is very sad.

This reminds me a lot of our Miska. Such a sweetie, and so tarnished by a reputation she had no control over. Lovely, thought-provoking shot, Patrick.

  • Thank you. We have experienced the prejudice of BSL first hand. We were ignorant of it until we were adopted by our Maple. Now we try and do everything we can to fight it.

Great PoV Patrick, and I agree. I think bad dogs are made by bad owners. Most are loving when loved . Just because a dog looks “hard” doesn’t mean it is.

  • Thanks Jamie. Just trying to do my part to help enlighten the masses.

She looks like an angel. :))

  • Thanks. She really is an angel. Her wings are a bit ruffled and her halo has been chewed a little, but she’s the best!

What a poignant shot. So sad but true.

I work with a fostering organization and fortunately we do foster pitties. But, there are so many abused and neglected members of this breed out there. I agree completely with you about BSL’s. I have four of my own.

  • Thanks. My wife and I volunteers with a couple of pit bull rescues here in Missouri. They are a very misunderstood and mistreated group of breeds.
