The Final Debate

Should I maintain my fixed composure
Should I go along and stay
Should I speak on acts that were unkind
and pick up and run away

Do I continue to shiver at the sight
Do I keep up the intense silence
Do I stand up and say “That’s enough”,
and finally overcome my shyness

Could I stand resilient and strong on my own
Could I take that very next step
Could I display my beaming inner strength
and maintain what dignity I have left

Would I make the the most of my freedom
Would I be productive and secure
Would I have tears of joy roll down my cheeks
and become all that I wished for

Maybe I’ll soon develop the nerve
Maybe I’ll be brave and stand tall
Maybe I’ll make my kids very proud
and just listen to God’s whisper and call.
