Who can remember their first steps?
Those first few tentative steps!
Towards somebody or some thing that has gained one’s attention!
Where is it, in our memory retention?
Those wobbly steps, towards the prize!
A smile, a hug, well done Jimmy!
Oh what a surprise!
We knew you could do it!
Through the faith and encouragement of others, lots of things are possible.
But who can remember their first steps, to please.
Somebody, or someone, perhaps their persistence to ease.
And when time takes its toll,
of our young life, and our soul.
and our memories fade,
once again into shade!
And our limbs have all shrunk.
And as if we where drunk.
Stand if we try,
we need aids to get by.
Then our feeble first steps, are as grand as our last!
But then, while,
our first they have past.
Pray God when it’s time,
We remember to smile,
at our last few paces, we remember the faces,
of all those who helped us to shine!
They’ll have passed by the way’
of those that could say,
“I can remember your first steps for sure!”
There are many first steps in our life, from cradle to grave,
quite a few of them land in manure!
But my very first steps, with recollection at its best, with my computer up there,
I’m sure, I forgot to press save!
Goodness me it’s seems hard to get off the sofa sometimes. It makes me think ,when did this idea of walking start? And how long will it last till the old legs just won’t work any more?
