Like an old chair
I use to be sturdy.
Dependable, undefeated.
I was the one you counted on
For support,
To lift you up when you needed.

Now I count on you
More than ever to be my strength.
For my days are harder to get thru.
I am aging and aching.
I don’t get around around like I use too.

I have seen better days,
This is true.
Like a well made chair
That withers but lasts
My body may be tiring,
But my heart always remains with you.
